Privacy, in plain language.

A story can be personal. We collect only what the project needs, explain how it is handled, and give you a direct way to delete it.

What we collect

We collect the story, title or description you provide, any audio or video file you choose to share, your consent record, and basic technical information needed to operate and protect the service. We collect an email address only when you create an account or contact us. Processing may also create a transcript, private summary, editorial categories, and comparison data used to find related stories.

How we use it

Submissions are held for Pay Me in Stories and are not public by default. We use them to review and organize the collection, connect related experiences, produce project artwork, and share project work under the permission you affirm before submitting. Transcription and editorial-support tools help the team categorize and work with submitted stories efficiently; they are not used to invent a replacement story or publish private labels as facts about a contributor.

Who handles it

Access is limited to authorized project administrators and service providers that support database hosting, account access, secure media storage and delivery, transcription, and private editorial organization. Those providers process information on the project’s behalf to deliver those services. We do not sell contributor stories or account information. Account credentials and contact details are kept separate from public-facing story material wherever practical.

Retention and deletion

We retain a submission while it remains available for project work. You can permanently delete it through your account or with its private story key. Deletion removes the story and related working data from our active database and prevents use in future projects. Service-provider systems and protected backups may retain limited copies temporarily under their security and retention processes. We may retain a minimal non-content record showing when consent was given and deletion occurred. Existing or published project copies may not be fully retractable; contact us directly and we will do our best to accommodate a request involving an existing use.

Your choices

You may share as a guest, create an account, decline to submit, or delete a submitted story. If you no longer have the private story key, contact us with the title or other details you remember so we can verify and process a removal request. Questions and requests can be sent to hello@paymeinstories.com.
